About

Set in the beautiful Derbyshire village of Crich; home of The Tramway Museum, The Loaf Bakery and of course Peak Practice, the Seed Gallery and Studio is a treasure trove of unique, handmade, contemporary crafts with a strong sustainable ethos.

The Seed Gallery showcases  talented new crafts and applied arts graduates, just starting their creative careers, from the Nottingham and Derbyshire areas. Work includes ceramics, glass, sculpture, jewellery, textiles and print. A selection of Roger La Borde, Cinnamon Aitch and makers’ handmade cards are also available.

The gallery is owned and run by Sarah Jennings who graduated in 2010 with a first class BA (Hons) Crafts degree from the University of Derby. Her studio is based in the pig sty next door, home to Sarah Jennings Sculpture. The studio will also run craft-based workshops for both children and adults.

Featured Maker: Josephine Gomersall

Josephine makes Silver Jewellery, metal Artworks and mixed media framed artworks in Brass, Copper, and Silver and recycled Tin with hand stamped decoration, and an accent of colour. Both delicate and decorative, her designs are inspired by the natural world; from the garden and hedgerow, to the countryside and coastline. She works from her home studio in the rural setting of Seagrave in Leicestershire. Chickens; Gem and Noodle, live at the bottom of the garden.

The ‘little treasure’ metal artworks mounted in wooden blocks make a wonderful, unique, hand crafted gift, and can be displayed either individually or collectively. The mini sculptures have been featured in the Emporium pages of Country Living magazine.
